Trains west from Paddington
Paddington is the London terminus for Great Western Railway, with trains to Reading, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Swansea, Devon and Cornwall. It's also served by the Elizabeth line and the Heathrow Express. If you're heading west with luggage, perhaps for a holiday in Cornwall or a trip home to Wales, a car from your door in Tolworth avoids a train into Waterloo and a cross-London change.
Don't go to Paddington for Heathrow
Here's a tip we give often. If you're planning to catch the Heathrow Express from Paddington, don't. From Tolworth, Heathrow is closer than Paddington, so going into central London first sends you in the wrong direction. A direct car to Heathrow is usually quicker, simpler and, for two or more people, often better value.
Getting there
Paddington is about 12 miles from Tolworth, and the drive usually takes 40 to 60 minutes, across west London rather than through the centre. Paddington is outside the Congestion Charge zone. The station's set-down areas can get busy around peak train departures, so tell us which entrance you'd like.
Coming home on a GWR train
GWR trains from the west can run late, particularly on long journeys. Give us your train details when you book, and let us know if you're delayed. We'll adjust your pickup rather than leave you waiting.
